Legacy

Today's challenge in my bible study (Stressed Less Living by Tracie Miles through the wonderful ladies at MelissaTaylor.org) is to recognize a wonderful lady who has encouraged my walk with God.  And I have the perfect woman in mind.  My mother-in-law.  And she is very special because not only is she a wonderful woman, but she is actually my husband's stepmom.  This is by no means an insult to all of the stepmom's out there, it is just a testament to her (and all the stepmom's like her) that she is gladly taking on this role for me, and many other people, even though she really doesn't have to.  She married my husband's father 10 years ago, when all of the kids were well out of the house.  To me this means that she really didn't have to take such an interest, and even more so, she wasn't expected to be such a blessing in so many ways to our whole family.

Sandra is so full of love and acceptance and not once has she made me feel like she was judging me for my less than exemplary past.  She is a wonderful, truly caring woman who has been praying for me to accept God into my life since the day we met.  And she cried the first Sunday we walked in to church.  Makes me cry right now to think about how lucky I am that God has chosen me to be part of this mom's life, and to be able to call her one of my moms too.

Heavenly Father, thank you again for all of the wonderful people that you have hand picked to help me along my journey.  Thank you for showing your love through so many amazing people.  God, help me to be a beacon of light to someone who needs it right now.  Help me to shower out your love and grace.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
